Engineering Curriculum overview

 

KS4 Course

Qualification: NCFE Level 1/2 technical award in Engineering 

Exam Board: NCFE

NEA:  Pupils will complete an NEA (Non examined assessment which is worth 60% of the overall grade). This will be in the form of a response to an exam board released brief on the theme of an Engineering problem.  Pupils will complete research, Engineering drawings, a practical outcome and appropriate testing and evaluation.

Exam:  The exam element is worth 40% of the overall grade.  Pupils will be tested on theoretical knowledge covered on the course in a 1 hour 30 minute exam.  This includes Engineering principles, materials, manufacturing methods, applied maths and Science and health and safety legislation.

The course is graded using the following system;  Level 1 Distinction, Level 2 Pass, Level 2 Merit, Level 2 Distinction and Level 2 Distinction star.
